Nutraferon ECOMERON Injection

It is reserved for severe, polymicrobial, or multidrug-resistant hospital infections, including bacterial meningitis, nosocomial and ventilator-associated pneumonia, febrile neutropenia, complicated intra-abdominal sepsis, complicated UTIs, and severe skin/soft-tissue infections.

Meropenem achieves reliable penetration across inflamed meninges into the cerebrospinal fluid while having much lower central nervous system GABAA receptor antagonism than imipenem, minimizing the risk of drug-induced seizures.

Co-administration of Meropenem with valproic acid or divalproex sodium causes a rapid 60–90% drop in serum valproate concentrations within 24 hours by inhibiting intestinal absorption and accelerating glucuronidation of valproate. This can precipitate acute breakthrough seizures; alternative anticonvulsants or antibiotics must be used.

Chemotherapy patients with severely low neutrophil counts can progress to fatal Gram-negative septic shock within hours. Meropenem provides immediate empiric bactericidal coverage against both ESBL-producing Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Because 70% of Meropenem is cleared unchanged by the kidneys, nephrologists extend the dosing interval (to every 12 or 24 hours) and/or halve the unit dose based on the patient's Creatinine Clearance (CrCl), administering doses after hemodialysis sessions.
