Nutraferon NUTRACEF Tablet (325 mg) is a broad-spectrum oral bactericidal formulation combining the third-generation ester-prodrug cephalosporin Cefpodoxime Proxetil (equivalent to 200 mg Cefpodoxime) with the irreversible β-lactamase inhibitor Potassium Clavulanate (equivalent to 125 mg Clavulanic Acid). Engineered for outpatient respiratory, ENT, urinary, and skin infections—as well as oral step-down therapy following parenteral third-generation cephalosporins (`47-Nutraferon NUTRACEF INJ`)—it restores Cefpodoxime’s bactericidal potency against Class A β-lactamase-producing pathogens.

Ester Prodrug De-Esterification & PBP3 Inhibition (Cefpodoxime Proxetil 200 mg): The lipophilic proxetil ester facilitates intestinal mucosal uptake, where non-specific esterases hydrolyze it into active Cefpodoxime. Active Cefpodoxime binds bacterial PBP3 to block peptidoglycan transpeptidation and induce osmotic cell lysis.
Suicide β-Lactamase Inhibition (Clavulanic Acid 125 mg): Covalently acylates the active serine site of Class A β-lactamases.
pH- & Food-Dependent Oral Bioavailability: Cefpodoxime Proxetil requires an acidic gastric environment and food for optimal dissolution—taking it with food increases systemic bioavailability from ~50% to ~70%.

Directions of Use & Safety Information

Dosage: Take strictly as prescribed by your physician—typically one tablet every 12 hours (twice daily) for 5 to 14 days depending on infection site and severity.
Administration & Mandatory Food Timing (Pharmacist Correction): Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water WITH food (during a meal). Do not chew, crush, or split the tablet.
Critical Acid-Suppressing Drug Interaction (Antacids, H2 Blockers & PPIs): Do NOT take concurrently with Antacids (aluminum/magnesium hydroxide), H2-receptor blockers (famotidine, ranitidine), or Proton Pump Inhibitors (pantoprazole, rabeprazole, omeprazole), as raising stomach pH significantly reduces the dissolution and absorption of Cefpodoxime Proxetil (cut by 30–40%)! Space antacids by at least 2 hours after taking Nutraferon NUTRACEF TAB.
